The season of changing colours has arrived and for some of us, the fall season is accompanied with a bustling workload. With the tranquility of summer days long gone, transitioning from a regular to busy work schedule can be challenging if you are not equipped with the resources to fuel your energy.

To conquer the battling demands of work, react with your sword of productivity. If you can monitor and balance your productivity levels at an efficient pace that works for you, carrying out your responsibilities will become easier to fulfill and manage.

Here are a few tips on how to remain productive at work:

1. Have a To-Do List:

Call me old-school, but the best way to begin your morning is with a checklist. Whether it is a written or virtual list, gather all your activities ranging from ad-hoc to long-term projects in one place. This list will act as your visual guide and keep your memory in check. Once you’ve finished one task, you move on to the next with ease, and relieve yourself from sitting at your desk for minutes thinking “what next?” As an added bonus, you get to experience the joy of crossing off things on your list as they are completed, which surprisingly, is very satisfying.

2. Work-Life Balance:

Sometimes, you may find yourself working past the clock in order to meet the demands of work – which is acceptable on occasion. It becomes a problem, however, when work invades your personal time on a daily basis. On the other hand, sometimes your personal time may take up your work time. In both cases, being able to identify your problem and allocate your time from work and personal activities are fundamental to achieving a healthy work-life balance. Find an optimal balance that works for you rather than against you without affecting your work/personal life.

3. Monitor your Health:

Although you may not be getting paid to take care of your health, it’s still a good idea to keep your health in check. Sleeping on time, eating nutritious meals, and exercising will not only keep you in shape, but will give you the energy you need to trudge through an action-packed day of work. A high energy level is closely linked to an increase in productivity, and thus, allowing you to feel more alive during work hours. You need to receive energy in order to give away energy. In other words, if your mind and body are being drained, take some time to retreat and recharge. By treating your body as an energy supplement, you are giving your work day the best form of nutrition it needs to function in your favour!
