Description
I am working with a large insurance company that is looking for a Senior Manager, Surety (Large & International Contractor). This will support the AVP, in managing and growing a portfolio of contract surety business with both international and large domestic contractors. This role demands a solid understanding of financial analysis and the ability to assess the financial condition, credit history, and experience of contract surety accounts.
Position: Senior Manager, Large Contract & International Surety
Location: Ontario
Responsibilities:
- Lead underwriting decisions for technically complex accounts, providing strategic recommendations and action plans.
- Present underwriting decisions outside of delegated authority to senior management and reinsurance partners.
- Strategically grow the large domestic and international contract surety portfolio.
- Collaborate with Surety team members to ensure the accurate and timely administration of risks and policies.
- Assist in underwriting larger contract surety accounts and support the broader Surety team.
- Act as a subject matter expert on P3 projects and bond wordings, providing guidance and mentorship to branch members.
- Ensure adherence to the Risk & Control Framework for all contract surety activities.
- Build and maintain key broker and contractor relationships to support business growth.
Qualifications:
- University degree required; Accounting or finance designation is an asset.
- 5+ years of proven experience in working with financial statements and credit analytics for construction companies.
- Strong knowledge of business, accounting, construction, finance, and risk management.
- Experience in providing analytics and reports to support credit decision-making.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to multi-task, manage conflicting priorities, and stay highly organized.
- Negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Passion and enthusiasm for the surety line of business.
