Policy & Procedure Documentation Consultant



Co-ordinate the review of existing documentation of finance function policies, procedures and practices; identify documentation gaps and create or enhance the necessary document to close those gaps.

This contract position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will work closely with several key finance team members to ensure documentation is complete, concise and accurate and mitigates key person risk and reduces the concentration of knowledge and skills within a few key people within the finance function.


 Through review of employee job descriptions and interview with key finance function team members:

  • Identify all key finance function deliverables
  • Assist in the development of a Finance Function Mandate to be reviewed and approved by the Company’s board of directors.

 Consolidate into a single table of contents, all existing finance function policies, procedures and practices (related to financial reporting, pricing, stress testing, investments, capital, budgeting/forecasting, finance operations).

 Considering key finance deliverables and existing policies, procedures and practices, assist in identifying gaps in existing documentation.

 Create/enhance policies, procedures and practices for key processes where current documentation does not exist/is insufficient.

Assist in the development of a process/framework for ongoing maintenance of the updated inventory of policies procedures and practices, including (but not limited to) establishing circumstances requiring review and frequency of review of documentation.



Education (required designations):

  • Chartered Professional Accountant/CPA 


  • Minimum 5 years of public accounting, financial reporting, finance operations experience in financial services, preferably in the insurance/mortgage industry;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including PC Word, Powerpoint and spreadsheets (Excel);
  • Considerable experience writing policy and procedure documentation;
