Our client  is seeking a Senior Underwriter specializing in Casualty. Under the direction of the Vice President, Fronting Solutions, the Senior Portfolio Underwriter assists with development, underwriting and administration of fronted and MGA business for clients across Canada. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Risk assessment, rating, and coverage analysis of portfolio casualty risks within the limits and current underwriting guidelines as established and authorized.
  • Authorizes and accepts related casualty risks.
  • Maintains knowledge and expertise on pricing programs and portfolios
  • Offers alternative structures, terms and conditions on risks/accounts as needed with recommendations for the various options
  • Provides coaching and guidance to junior underwriters.
  • Reviews and approves manuscript policy wordings (draft or final) and provides recommendations.
  • Assesses, recommends and /or approves risk changes on existing accounts and programs.
  • Responsible to conduct regular reviews on current accounts and programs.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with current and new partners across Canada.
  • Prepares, reviews and presents regular reports and plans.
  • Monitor market conditions and the activities of existing and potential clients.
  • Prepares and performs presentations/seminars for clients as required
  • With a sense of urgency, provide exceptional service to clients through personal contact and correspondence.
  • Ensures files, records and documents are maintained up-to-date, orderly and easily accessible.
  • Maintains business rapport with existing MGAs through market visits and develops new desirable sources of business.
  • Manages documents for all special acceptances and performs/ documents underwriting reviews.
  • Markets and promotes the products and services of the company to existing and potential MGA customers.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7-10+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience required
  • CIP designation an asset
  • Proven experience in marketing and customer service.
